Company Coming?
This time of year, it may feel like you don’t have much control over your schedule, not to mention the music on the radio and sniffles that always seem to be going around. And often, it feels like the date of the company’s arrival is predetermined and sadly fated to perfectly coincide with the time of year when you are least likely to be ready for it!
Getting the inside of your house ready is on you, but Cut’n Edge is at your service for the outside! We already talked to you about fall cleanup and leaf collection (which we’re still doing), but you may not know that we go beyond the borders of your greenery all the way to the walls of your home.
If your home needs a good power wash, we’re ready to handle it!
What is Power Washing?
You’ve probably seen people power washing a home before, and you’ve almost certainly seen an ad for it! But you may not know precisely what it is.
Power washing is using a particular pressure washer to heat water to temperatures up to 311 degrees and use that hot water and cleaning solutions to clean surfaces outside of the home, such as vinyl, stone, or concrete.
Is it Better Than Pressure Washing?
It’s difficult to say that power or pressure washing is better. Each has its uses for different materials. When hiring a company to power or pressure wash, it’s vital to find one with a good reputation because using the wrong method can damage your home.
Power washing is often the best solution for cleaning because the heat adds another element to the cleaning power, enabling it to get dried on dirt and debris that pressure washing can’t. But you can’t use it for materials!
Can I DIY?
We don’t recommend DIY washing.
First of all, as professionals, we have access to better equipment. Secondly, it can be dangerous. Thirdly, we know that we’ll do a great job!
Danger to You
It’s not uncommon to get injuries like burns or lacerations when power washing. We’ve already told you how hot it can get, but there’s also a lot of pressure in your washer. Some power washers can get up to 2800 psi. A champagne cork shoots out at 70 psi.
Without the proper safety equipment and technique, it’s easy to cut yourself, get an eye injury, or worse!
Danger to Your Home
Misusing a power washer can be dangerous to your home for the same reason it can be hazardous to you. An inexperienced washer can permanently damage siding, soft stone, or other materials by leaving the pressure too high or washing something not meant for the equipment.
Given our temperate climate, there’s little chance of water freezing, though one should always be aware of unseasonable cold snaps. In colder parts of the country, washing in the winter can lead to freezing and damaging property.
Not as Easy as it Looks
Finally, even though it may seem like spraying water at your house is well within your ability, a power washer takes practice like everything else. So even if you don’t damage your home or hurt yourself, you may leave streaks or feel dissatisfied with the final product.
Ready to Come Clean?
Power or pressure washing your home has many benefits, the most obvious of which is having a clean house! But that cleanliness can also improve your health and reduce the risk of mold and property damage from the buildup of contaminants. It also increases your property value!
Nothing’s easy when you only do it once in a while, so give the pros a call. Besides, don’t you have many other things to do in this season of merriment? Cut Edge is ready to take one more item off your holiday to-do list with a customer experience that is a cut above!
